1. To initiate the research, formulation and promotion of the diagnosis and treatment standards for traditional medicine as well as acupuncture and moxibustion.

Research in Integrated TCM with Western Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines and Efficacy Assessment Standards for  40 types ofCommon Paediatric Diseases through literature research and Questionnaire Survey is completed.

2. To carry out studies on the safety, efficacy and quality control of traditional medicine.

 

e.g. Project 4

Research on TCM Intervention of Ulcerative Colitis and its Efficacy Assessment is continuously carried out as planned.  

Based on the characteristics of  the disease and its clinical performance in ulcerative colitis’ active and remission stage, sequential treatment combining Disease Staging and Differential Treatment has been adopted. Currently, TCM intervention plan is established; more than 200 patients have been tested; CRF tables and researcher manuals have been completed, along with the production of  Chinese medicinal granules, packaging and distribution.

3. To carry out clinical and experimental studies on the application of acupuncture and moxibustion in the prevention and treatment of diseases.

e.g. Project 5

Clinical Research on the Influence of Acupuncture on Tears Secretion of Menopause Xerophthalma is completed. Results indicate that acupuncture does boost tears secretion, prolong the tear membrane break time and help keratopathy restoration with obvious improvement.

e.g. Project 6

Clinical studies on Electro-Acupuncture in the treatment of moderate depression is continuously carried out as planned.

It is found that Electro-Acupuncture has obvious therapeutic effects in the treatment of anxiety and somatization disorder with less side-effects and strong long-term effects, whose effectiveness is not less than anti-depression western medicine.
