1. To carry out clinical and experimental studies on the safety and efficacy on TCM in the treatment of difficultdiseases.

 

Project 1

Research in Integrated TCM with Western Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines and Efficacy Assessment Standards for Common Paediatric Diseases, having established eleven TCM diagnosis and treatment common practice, including diseases of pneumonia, asthma, diarrhoea, anorexia, kidney disease syndromes, etc.,  as well as the ancient literature data base of TCMPaediatrics.  This research work is carried out as planned.

Project 2

Working out TCM and Integrated TCM with Western Medicine Treatment Guidelines for Epidemic Encephalitis B, Epidemic Hemorrhagic Fever and Dengue Fever, which is to complete by December 2008.

Project 3

Research in the Comprehensive TCM Treatment and Prevention of Diabetes and its Main Complication, TCM Intervention of Ulcerative Colitis and its Efficacy Assessment, and demonstrating studies on the Principle of Diagnosis and Treatment  of Clinical Chronic Kidney Disease are all carried out smoothly as planned.

Project 4

Research on the Development of Three General Techniques for Pharmaceutics of TCM is carried out smoothly,  achieving certain general techniques, such as removal method of pyrogen and allergen in the preparation of TCM injection, microfiltration technology of inorganic membranes in the refinement of TCM, etc.

2. To carry out clinical research on acupuncture and moxibustion in treating gerontal and difficult diseases.

Project 5

Clinical Research on the Influence of Acupuncture on Tears Secretion of Menopause Xerophthalma is completed. Clinical treatment indicate that acupuncture did boost tears secretion, prolong the tear membrane break time and help keratopathy restoration with obvious improvement ( P< 0.05 ), finding out  the new treatment with distinctive TCM characteristics for the disease ofmenopause xerophthalma.

Project 6

Research in the Function of Electro-Acupuncture on the Spinal Cord NMDA Receptor- NO- cGMP Signal Transmission Path of Rat with Neuropathologic Pain is carried out smoothly as planned.  This research indicate that through regulating relevant passages of the NMDA receptor-NO-cGMP Signal Transmission Path of pathologic rat, acupuncture treatment may improve the pain adjustment system of the spinal cord so as to achieve pain-removing.
